Mujib Ahmed, PE

Mujib Ahmed, PE is a Ceramic and glass fusing artist based in San Dimas, California.

He is a professional civil engineer and after serving 45 years in engineering consulting he began practicing his new passion in glass fusing and ceramic pottery.

For glass work he uses COE (Cefficient of Expansion) 90 and 96 type glass.
For both ceramic and glass art he conceptualizes the design with pencil sketches and drawings. For ceramic he forms the shape by hand, and after bisque firing he dips his piece in desired glaze and fires it in the ceramic kiln for completion.

For glass piece he cuts and grinds the glass to fit his concept design. After assembling his pieces carefully he places them in the glass kiln and fuses it to the desired temperature (maximum of 1500 degrees F). The fusing depends on the design whether it is a tack fuse or full fuse etc.  He then either keeps the piece flat or slumps it into a mold depending upon the concept design. Mujib also makes glass jewelry by fusing dichroic and different color compatible glasses.

He makes most of his glass art at home where he has converted one of the rooms into a small studio. He has all the required tools and kilns at home for shaping and fusing his pieces with artistic and cultural significance.
